About
Dr. Odelia Duhel is a counselor educator, clinician, and board-approved clinical supervisor dedicated to mentoring the next generation of counseling professionals. She serves as an adjunct professor in the School of Behavioral and Applied Sciences, specializing in the Master of Arts in Counseling: Addiction Specialization.
Dr. Duhel earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands and her M.Ed. in Counselor Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a board-approved CPC/MFT supervisor in Nevada.
With over a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Duhel has worked in diverse settings, including community mental health, public schools, juvenile detention centers, inpatient behavioral health facilities, and private practice. Her clinical expertise includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, trauma-informed care, and addiction counseling. She has extensive experience supporting clients experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, suicidal ideation, and identity-related concerns.
As a supervisor, Dr. Duhel provides a supportive, collaborative, and growth-oriented environment where interns can strengthen their clinical skills, develop their professional identity, and gain confidence as counselors. Her supervision approach emphasizes ethical practice, case conceptualization, evidence-based interventions, cultural humility, self-reflection, and the integration of counseling theory into clinical practice.
Dr. Duhel is passionate about helping interns become competent, compassionate, and culturally responsive clinicians. She believes effective supervision is a partnership that encourages curiosity, professional growth, and lifelong learning.
Her research interests focus on mindfulness, wellness, counselor development, and the mental health needs of diverse populations, with particular interest in the intersection of culture, identity, and well-being.
