About
| I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with 18 years of experience in behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment. For nearly six years, I have provided clinical supervision to counselors, interns, and pre-licensed clinicians working across the continuum of care, including Residential Treatment (RTC), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and outpatient settings. My specialty is substance use disorder treatment and the supervision of clinicians providing addiction services. While many interns receive strong general mental health supervision, counselors working in SUD programs often benefit from supervision provided by someone with specialized training and experience in addiction treatment. Effective SUD supervision requires an understanding of recovery-oriented care, co-occurring disorders, relapse prevention, Motivational Interviewing, ASAM criteria, level-of-care decisions, treatment planning, documentation requirements, and the unique challenges clients face throughout the recovery process. As both a substance use disorder specialist and a man in long-term recovery, I bring professional expertise and personal insight to the supervisory relationship. My supervision style is collaborative, supportive, and developmental. I strive to help supervisees build confidence, strengthen clinical skills, navigate ethical and professional challenges, and develop a strong professional identity. I have extensive experience in addiction treatment environments and understand the realities of working within RTC, PHP, IOP, and OP programs. My supervision integrates evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, client-centered treatment planning, and practical guidance related to documentation, risk management, regulatory expectations, and interdisciplinary teamwork. I am particularly interested in partnering with substance use disorder treatment organizations that need qualified supervision for interns, substance use counselors, and pre-licensed clinicians. Quality SUD-specific supervision helps clinicians develop the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively serve individuals and families affected by addiction while supporting stronger clinical outcomes and long-term professional growth. My goal is to help organizations build confident, competent clinicians who are prepared to meet the complex needs of clients in recovery. |
