Maria Elena Job

About

Hello! My name is Maria, and I currently work in the specialty court field, where I have the opportunity to support justice-involved individuals as they navigate treatment, recovery, and behavior change. My background includes working with individuals involved in the criminal justice system, developing treatment programs, building community partnerships, and helping create systems that better serve people who often fall through the cracks.
One of my favorite parts of this work is supervision and mentorship. I enjoy helping interns connect classroom knowledge to real-world practice, develop confidence in their clinical skills, and discover their own professional identity. I believe supervision should be a collaborative process where questions are encouraged, strengths are recognized, and growth is supported.
Interns working with me can expect a supportive, approachable, and honest learning environment. I value curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn. I strive to provide meaningful feedback, opportunities for professional development, and exposure to the unique challenges and rewards of working with justice-involved populations. My goal is to help interns feel both challenged and supported as they build the skills necessary for a successful career in the helping professions.
I have been working in the world of substance use and justice involved individuals for over 15 years.
