Whitney Fegan, Associate Project Coordinator, Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED), University of Nevada, Reno
Whitney is a valued member of the faculty at the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED), affiliated with the University of Nevada, Reno. She holds an impressive academic background, including a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on Addiction Treatment Services, both obtained from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Currently serving as the PEAT Coordinator, Whitney plays a crucial role in supporting families by facilitating access to interdisciplinary diagnostic services for those with youth who were prenatally exposed to alcohol and drugs. Her responsibilities extend to evaluating whether a child meets the criteria for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
Additionally, in her capacity as a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Professional Learning Specialist, Whitney contributes to the development of curriculum for site teams and provides coaching for training related to Substance Prevention Awareness. Before her tenure in higher education, Whitney embarked on her career in K-12 education, where she dedicated her efforts to supporting behavioral and social-emotional interventions for youth across various grade levels.
Her extensive career spans multiple levels of education, encompassing roles in the classroom, school, and district settings. Whitney brings a wealth of professional experience in human services, having served as a Drug and Alcohol counselor in Addiction Treatment Services. Furthermore, her background includes valuable contributions within the Juvenile Justice system, where she supported at-risk youth.
